Serving Aurora, MO - Gary Wood CDJ

Nestled in the midst of the majestic Ozarks is the scenic smalltown of Aurora, Missouri. We at Gary Wood Chrysler Dodge Jeep are lucky to call this area home. Everyone enjoys living in this beautiful town, where local businesses thrive and a variety of nearby parks are available for us to stroll through. Aurora is tucked away in the larger Lawrence County in Southwest Missouri, named for a War of 1812 naval officer by the name of James Lawrence, who is known for his catchphrase, "Don't give up the ship!"

Besides Aurora, Lawrence County is home to several cities and major highways, including county seat Mount Vernon and Interstate 44. There's lots of things to do in the area, but Aurora also has an events calender of its own featuring community events put together by Aurora's Chamber of Commerce. There was a time when Aurora was part of a larger Lawrence County that stretched to include part of Arkansas, back before state lines were more clearly defined in the early days of the country.

People were first attracted to the area of Lawrence County, and consequently Aurora, due to the innovation of the railroad. It was a booming business that gave the area the economic boost it needed to make a name for itself. However, following the Civil War, the citizens of the county decided to take life a little easier and went back to a calmer, more argricultural way of life. Aurora itself began mining for ore, with mining being the town's main source of income for some time.

Now, Aurora is a welcoming place for people of all walks of life to just take some time to relax and enjoy the countryside of Lawrence County in Missouri. We at Gary Wood are proud to serve the people of the community through our dealership, so if you're ever in need of a ride, just give us a call or stop by.
